Application 101-image

Hi readers! In today’s post we’re sharing some information regarding filling out applications! If you’ve looked around our site, taken a tour and like what you see, you might be ready to move in! Moving is definitely one of the most stressful things for many people, but we want to help make the process as seamless as possible. Here at Port Landing at Fife, we’ve compiled a few resources for helping you apply at our apartment complex. Follow these easy steps and you’ll be on your way in no time.   Verify Your Credit It’s important to know in detail your current financial situation before you start filling out an application. Getting an up-to-date copy of your credit report is a good place to begin the process. Once you receive the report, review it to verify that the information is accurate. If it is not, take steps to make corrections before you fill out an application. This is an easy way to avoid disappointment based on a credit score.   Prepare Documents Having all of the documentation you will need close at hand before you begin is a good idea. It will help you fill out the application more quickly in one sitting. Usually, you will need your driver’s licenses, social security cards, proof of employment, and references. Some applications require a copy of these documents to be attached. Scanning and saving them as a PDF file prior to starting the application can expedite the process when you are actually filling in the application.   Read Through the Application Before you begin filling out an application, read through it to get a general idea of what will be required and what information and documentation you will need to have on hand. This will help you avoid surprises and better prepare your answers.   Double-Check Your Responses Once you’ve completed the paperwork, but before you submit your application, double-check it to make sure it is complete and accurate. It is annoying to realize after you hit the “send” button that you made a mistake. Be sure to check for typos, too. First impressions still count, even if it’s only an application.   We hope these tips help you in your journey to your new home here in Fife, WA! Thanks for reading Port Landing at Fife’s blog.

Host a Game Night-image

Welcome back to Port Landing at Fife’s blog. In our last post we shared some of our favorite book recommendations. We hope you were able to discover a title you love. Today we are sharing something a little bit different than normal. If you’re looking to take a break from the typical dinner and a movie weekend night routine, you can mix it up with a game night!   Our first idea is a little time intensive, but certainly a ton of fun. This Mafia Game Night comes from The Dating Divas. Find their site here . This game would also be fun to have your guests dress up Mafia style! The site says, “If you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary, this is a group date night you’ll definitely enjoy. As you play Mafia, you will get to know the devious and dangerous side of your spouse and your friends. It’s never boring because each phase of the game is different and governed by the people who are playing!”   We also love the idea of doing Fishbowl at a game night! Find the directions right here . This game is great for a ton of laughs and some fun competition. It’s also a great way to learn how to communicate with new people, and choose your words wisely!   Of course, what pairs better with games than snacks? We think something sweet or salty would be a great snack for you and your friends. Feel free to suggest friends bring drinks or a snack to share with others. Maybe try this S’mores Popcorn from Eat Cake for Dinner. It’s an excellent combination of popcorn, chocolate, and marshmallow!   Have fun hosting your friends in your Port Landing home in Fife, Washington. Book Recommendations-image

In today’s blog post we’re sharing a few of our favorite books. Your Port Landing apartment is the perfect place to relax and get lost in a great book. Grab a cup of tea and a cozy blanket and settle in for a relaxing evening. Reading is also a great alternative to watching TV or using your phone before bed. Find a few of our favorite titles below:   Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult — “Jodi Picoult is never afraid to take on hot topics, and in Small Great Things , she tackles race and discrimination in a way that will grab hold of you and refuse to let you go. . . . This page-turner is perfect for book clubs.” — Popsugar   Empty Mansions by Bill Dedman — “A compelling account of what happened to the Clark family and its fortune . . . a tremendous feat.” — St. Louis Post-Dispatch   All The Missing Girls by Megan Miranda — “Are you paying attention? You'll need to be; this thriller will test your brain with its reverse chronological structure, and it's a page-turner to boot.” — ELLE   The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell — “Gladwell, a New Yorker staff writer, offers an incisive and piquant theory of social dynamics that is bound to provoke a paradigm shift in our understanding of mass behavioral change. Defining such dramatic turnarounds as the abrupt drop in crime on New York’s subways, or the unexpected popularity of a novel, as epidemics, Gladwell searches for catalysts that precipitate the ‘tipping point,’ or critical mass, that generates those events.” — Booklist   We think you’ll certainly love some of these books. If you are a member of a book club these would be great choices to read along with others. Be sure to recommend your favorites to your friends. Check back next time for another great post like this one. Thanks for reading Port Landing at Fife’s blog.

Today we are excited to share some of our best recommendations for local eateries. Finding a great spot to eat near your home can be a fun weekend activity. Eating local is a great way to support the local economy here in Fife and to get to know your hometown at the same time. We’ve got a few restaurants we think you’ll love! Take a break from the typical chain restaurant and give the dollar menu a rest. Try one of these places tonight!   Poodle Dog — “Since 1933, the Poodle Dog has been Fife’s original landmark restaurant. More than 80 years later, we are proud to continue the tradition of serving great food to our neighbors and friends. We invite you to come visit our iconic restaurant and enjoy our famous food and legendary service from our Fife team. We also have banquet rooms available from 20 to 150 people.”   Herfy’s Burgers — “Great fries, good burgers and superior service!”   Taqueria 3 Hermanos — “Portions on the burritos are good for one person with a very good appetite, or enough to share as a snack.”   Warthog BBQ Pit — “Tacoma native Gary Kurashima (aka ‘Mr. Warthog’) has over 35 years of restaurant experience around the Pacific Northwest. Deck Your Walls-image

Welcome back to Port Landing at Fife’s blog. We love sharing ideas and tips with our readers. In today’s post we are excited to share some ideas for decorating your apartment. Making your space your own is a great way to feel relaxed and comfortable at home. Purchasing necessities like furniture and appliances doesn’t always leave a lot of room for creativity. But with your decorations and accessories in your home you can really develop your own personal style.   It can take some time to fully furnish your whole home. But don’t get overwhelmed! Taking your time allows you to be able to really weigh your options. You want to spend your time and money on items that you really love and want to see everyday. From your family room to kitchen to bedroom to bathroom, there are a lot of choices to make.   Our favorite way to dress up a white wall is with some art. There are so many options, including photo prints, framed quotes, and handmade art. We love the watercolor home portrait designs from Celeste Clark. This texas born artist makes beautiful prints that we think would look amazing on your walls. From Etsy.com, Cantabrigia makes printable art your space.   A little DIY also never hurt. Take an afternoon and create your own unique piece for your walls. We like the thought of a favorite quote being printed out and displayed for you to always see. Don’t be afraid to take risks or break “style rules.” Take cues from other homes you’ve been in and loved. Vintage and flea market finds can also add a special touch to your space. You’ll soon develop your own sense of style in your home that will flow from room to room. Have fun along the journey. Thanks for reading the Port Landing at Fife Blog.

Get Better Sleep-image

After a busy day, there’s nothing better than crawling into bed for those eight hours your body desperately needs. But for some people, falling asleep doesn’t come very easily. There are a few cases where a lack of sleep comes because of a bigger problem that can only be solved with medical attention. But we believe that for most people, making a few changes in your night routine will greatly improve the quality of sleep you get each night in your apartment at Port Landing at Fife.   The things you abstain from doing at night will first make a big difference. Avoid high intensity workouts too close to bedtime. A lot of cardio can get your blood pumping and heart racing. This isn’t the best way to prepare to sleep. Instead, try yoga or some light stretching before bed to calm your mind and muscles.   Another thing to avoid at night is a lot of caffeine. Sometimes it can keep people awake later than they want to. Instead of black tea or a cup of coffee at night, try something more calming like a chamomile or other herbal tea. Even better, some warm water with lemon or honey can also have calming properties and help settle your stomach if you’ve eaten a big meal.   Implement a bedtime routine. Give yourself about an hour or so to do things like washing your face, brushing your teeth, or other ways of getting ready for bed. This way when you climb into bed, you’ll have accomplished everything you need with plenty of time to still go to bed at a decent hour, and you can sleep well.   Try to avoid any screens like tablets or phones. The harsh light can stimulate your eyes and mind, making it harder to relax. Avoid your phone about 20 minutes before heading to bed. Reading a book can help your mind unwind better than scrolling through Instagram can.   We hope you get a better night’s sleep tonight and every night. Thanks for reading Port Landing at Fife’s blog.
